1. The team “dancing,” which has been selected for the Foreign Ministry’s “public diplomacy project of Korean citizens,” staged a performance titled “Kkaebi Got Soul,” which transformed traditional Korean fairy tale “Dokkaebi Gamtu (goblin's hat)” into a street dance. The performance, presented for about 400 foreigners in the ROK three times from September 2 to 3, reinterpreted the traditional Korean fairy tale and traditional Korean sentiment with a modern touch, mixing it with hip-hop, b-boying and rocking.

o The team “dancing” consists of 17 members -- 5 famous hip-hop dancers in the ROK, and 12 members from the LOCK N LOLL Crew, the first Korean team that have won in the “2015 Hip Hop International,” a festival for hip-hop dancers around the world.

o The “Kkaebi Got Soul,” a street dance performance, tells the story of what happens to a dokkaebi and a clumsy dancer when a dokkaebi’s hat, which makes one a good dancer, disappears. The team “dancing” staged the performance to talk about dokkaebi, introduced to the people around the world through the recent tvN drama “Dokkaebi,” as well as traditional Korean sentiment, such as heung (intrinsic sense of joy) and deok (virtue), and lessons from traditional fairy tales, from a new angle with a modern touch.

2. The team members in fusion hanbok (traditional Korean clothing) told the fairy tale story through street dance and showed the traditional and modern beauties of Korean culture dynamically, receiving cheers from the audience. The audience also had an unusual experience of participating in the performance for themselves, when they learned how to do b-boy dance moves on the stage.

3. The Foreign Ministry is carrying out a range of public diplomacy programs in which the people of the ROK play a leading role, and will continue to actively pursue cultural diplomacy using the ROK’s soft power.
