1. The Center for International Law (CIL) at the Institute of Foreign Affairs and National Security (IFANS) of the Korea National Diplomatic Academy (KNDA) will host the international academic conference 2017 themed “cross-border air and marine pollution in East Asia: challenges and responses” in Seoul on November 10.

2. At the forthcoming conference, the participants will analyze and delve into ways that the US and European countries are regulating cross-border pollution, thereby shedding light on various current issues concerning air and marine pollution in Northeast Asia from a comparative perspective; and will explore policy and legal implications for the reduction of environmental pollution in Northeast Asia.

3. The event will bring together IFANS President Paik Ji-ah, Deputy Foreign Minister for Multilateral and Global Affairs Oh Young-ju, CIL Director Shin Gak-soo, and experts in international environmental law from home and abroad.

4. The upcoming conference is expected to serve as an opportunity to discuss recent developments in international environmental law in terms of cross-border environmental pollution and to present ways forward.
