Ambassador for Public Diplomacy of Foreign Ministry Park Enna Meets with UNESCO’s New Director-General

1. Ambassador for Public Diplomacy Park Enna met with UNESCO’s new Director-General Audrey Azoulay on November 10, and discussed ways for the Republic of Korea and UNESCO to work together.

2. Ambassador Park congratulated Director-General Audrey Azoulay, the second woman to occupy the position, on her inauguration, and expressed hope that under the leadership of the Director-General, UNESCO will resolve issues facing the body, and take a leap forward, turning the current crisis into an opportunity.

3. The Ambassador also asked for special attention and cooperation regarding the operation of the Memory of the World Program and the World Heritage Program, in which the ROK side has a keen interest.

4. Director-General Azoulay took note that the ROK, which is considered the most successful model of UNESCO’s education assistance program, is giving back to the international community what it received in the past, and hoped that the ROK and UNESCO will continue to enhance their cooperative relations.
