1. The Foreign Ministry will host the second cyber policy consultation between the Republic of Korea and the Czech Republic in Seoul on December 12.

※ The ROK holds bilateral cyber policy consultations with ten countries in addition to the Czech Republic as well as two international organizations, including the US, China, Russia, the EU and NATO.

° The ROK and Czech delegations to the consultation will be led by Director-General for International Organizations Lee Jang-keun of the ROK Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Special Envoy for Cyber Space Richard Kadlcak of the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs; and composed of officials of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and other cyber-related government agencies of the two countries.

2. At the upcoming consultation, the two sides, following up on the first bilateral cyber policy consultation held in June 2016, will look into the cyber policies of the two countries, the current cyber security situation, and main regional and global cyber issues; and will discuss ways that the two countries can work more closely together on cyber matters.

※ Cyber affairs are included as a main area for cooperation in the ROK-Czech agreement on the establishment of a strategic partnership concluded in February 2015.

3. The Czech Republic, a major country in Central Europe, is actively seeking international cooperation in the field at NATO, the Central European Cyber Security Platform (CECSP) and various other consultative mechanisms. The forthcoming ROK-Czech consultation is expected to help the former country further bolster its foundation of cooperation with Europe on cyber security.

° At the upcoming policy consultation, the two countries, like-minded with regard to the need to establish international law and norms on cyber space as well as ways to build a safe cyber space, plan to review the progress in their cooperation and to seek ways to step up cooperation in the area.
