1. Foreign Minister Kang Kang-wha will visit Japan from December 19 to 20 for the first time since her inauguration to meet with her Japanese counterpart Taro Kono.

o Foreign Minister Kono invited Minister Kang to visit Japan on numerous occasions, including the ROK-Japan Foreign Ministers’ meeting (August 7) held on the sidelines of the ASEAN-related Foreign Ministers’ meetings in August, and other bilateral meetings and phone conversations that followed thereafter.

2. In the upcoming ROK-Japan Foreign Ministers’ meeting, to be held on the afternoon of December 19, the two Ministers will exchange views on issues of mutual interest, focusing on the ROK-Japan relations, North Korea, and its nuclear issue.
