1. Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Poland Choi Sung-joo and Minister of Family, Labour and Social Policy of Poland Elżbieta Rafalska signed the ROK-Poland working holiday agreement on January 24.

o Under the agreement, Korean youngsters aged 18-30 (as many as 200 annually) will be able to gain a wide range of experience through sightseeing, foreign language learning and cultural experience, and acquire work experience through temporary jobs, while staying in Poland for up to one year.

Official name of the agreement: Agreement between the Republic of Korea and the Republic of Poland on a Working Holiday Programme

The agreement will enter into force in early April after domestic procedures in Poland are completed.

2. The signing of the agreement, which follows LOT Polish Airlines’ launch of direct flights between Warsaw and Incheon in October 2016, is expected to help further facilitate youth exchanges between the two countries.

3. The ROK has so far concluded working holiday agreements with a total of 23 countries. As about 40,000 young Koreans a year build their presence overseas through the working holiday program, the Foreign Ministry will seek to provide more opportunities for Korean youth to build their presence overseas by concluding working holiday agreements with other countries that Korean people hope to sign the agreements with.
