2. On February 9, the group, comprised of 19 youngsters aged 15-25 and from Korean-Indonesian bicultural families as well as the head and other seven members of the Korean community in Indonesia, will visit Pyeongchang to watch a figure skating competition and take part in cheering activities.
° The visit comes as a result of the efforts made by “the organizing committee for homecoming for the PyeongChang Olympics,” which was formed during President Moon Jae-in’s meeting with Korean residents in Indonesia held during his visit to the country in November 2017. The Korean community in Indonesia selected the youngsters from bicultural families in difficult living conditions and paid fully for their visit to the ROK.
3. The meeting between Minister Kang and the homecomers is expected to serve as a meaningful opportunity to extend appreciation to the Korean community in Indonesia that sponsored the bicultural youngsters’ visit to the ROK and to encourage those youngsters to grow up to become talent that can contribute to the development of the ROK-Indonesia relations.
