Vice Chairwoman of CJ Group Lee Mie-kyung Becomes Member of Leadership Group of Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative

1. On April 30 (Washington time), the World Bank finally decided the composition of the Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative Leadership Group, which will provide support and carry out promotional activities regarding the Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative (We-Fi). Vice Chairwoman of CJ Group Lee Mie-kyung who was recommended by the Republic of Korea became a member of the Group.

 

* The Women Entrepreneurs Finance Initiative (We-Fi) was created at the G20 summit in July 2017 to support women entrepreneurs in developing countries. Fourteen countries, including the ROK, the US, China and Japan, are participating in the We-Fi.

 

2. The Leadership Group consists of 16 businessmen, high-level government officials, and heads of international organizations recommended by the countries participating in the We-Fi. The Group will work to gain international support for activities to assist women entrepreneurs in developing countries through the We-Fi.

 

3. The ROK, as a responsible middle-power country of the international community, will continue to play its roles to expand economic opportunities for women in developing countries, and thereby to contribute to the international community’s efforts to achieve gender equality and sustainable development.
