1. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will hold “the fourth Green Round Table” at Lotte Hotel, downtown Seoul, on July 27.

The “Green Round Table” platform was launched in 2016 to discuss ways that international organizations specializing in green growth and hosted by the Republic of Korea and relevant Korean organizations can work together and create synergistic effect.

° The forthcoming event will bring together officials of such government agencies as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Environment; representatives from relevant organizations, including the Export-Import Bank of Korea, the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Korea Environment Corporation, K-Water and the Korea Environment Institute, as well as such companies as Kolon and Daesung Clean Energy; members of the P4G (Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030) Hub; and foreign diplomats to the ROK.

2. On the sidelines of the Green Round Table, a platform will be launched in the ROK to support the efforts of the P4G and its partner countries to create connectivity and implement partnership between them

. This platform is expected to serve as a springboard for closer private-public partnership for green growth.

* The Denmark-led P4G is a cooperative mechanism formally launched during the UN General Assembly session in September 2017 to step up private-public partnership for green growth and to accelerate the efforts to implement the Paris Agreement and the sustainable development goals (SDGs).

3. The event will feature opening remarks by Ambassador for Climate Change Yoo Yeon-chul as well as congratulatory remarks by Park Cheon-kyoo, head of the Planning and Coordination Office of the Ministry of Environment, and Danish Ambassador to the ROK Thomas Lehmann.

° After the launching ceremony of the P4G platform in the ROK, representatives from such companies as Kolon Eco One, Daesung Clean Energy and The Wave Talk (startup) will join session I on ways to invigorate private-public cooperation to build a circular economy; and session II on ways for a sustainable management of water for all.

4. The P4G platform, which will be launched in the ROK during the event, is expected to seek ways to expand private-public partnership in the area of green economy and promote cooperation among the government, international organizations, academic circles, enterprises and other private sectors, thereby contributing to the efforts to respond to global climate change and achieve SDGs.
