1. On the sidelines of the ASEAN-related Foreign Ministers’ Meetings 2018 in Singapore on August 3 and 4, Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha met bilaterally with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Winston Peters of New Zealand on August 3, during which the two top diplomats discussed issues concerning the Korean Peninsula and those between the Republic of Korea and New Zealand.

2. Minister Kang shared with her counterpart from New Zealand the progress in the inter-Korean dialogue and in US-North Korea follow-up negotiations as well as the current situation on the Korean Peninsula; and the ROK government’s efforts to faithfully implement the measures agreed upon at the inter-Korean and US-North Korea summit talks. She went on to ask the government of New Zealand to pay attention to and support the process toward a complete denuclearization and peace on the Korean Peninsula.

° Foreign Minister Peters responded positively to Minister Kang’s request; commended the ROK’s leading efforts to achieve such progress in the situation; and suggested that the ROK and New Zealand work more closely together toward the denuclearization and peace on the Korean Peninsula.

3. The two Ministers agreed to boost high-level exchanges in a bid to create a momentum for closer bilateral cooperation, and to work more closely together at the World Health Organization (WHO) and on other international stages.
