1. Director-General for Northeast Asian Affairs Kim Yong-kil of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs met with Director-General of the Asian and Oceanian Affairs Bureau Kenji Kanasugi of the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs for a Republic of Korea-Japan Director-General-level meeting in Tokyo on August 29.

2. In the meeting, the two sides engaged in an extensive exchange of views on issues of mutual interest, including ways to advance the ROK-Japan relations in a future-oriented manner, ways to make use of the 20th anniversary of the Kim Dae-jung-Obuchi Joint Declaration this year, and historical issues.
