1. The 9th Foreign Ministers’ Meeting among the Republic of Korea (ROK), Japan and the People’s Republic of China will take place in Beijing, China, on August 20-22. Minister of Foreign Affairs of the ROK Kang Kyung-wha, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan Taro Kono and Minister of Foreign Affairs of China Wang Yi will attend the meeting.
2. The meeting, which will take place about three years after the 8th meeting was held in August 2016, is expected to help reinforce the foundation for institutionalizing and improving the trilateral cooperation mechanism.
3. During the meeting, the foreign ministers of the three countries will extensively exchange views on the progress in the trilateral cooperation and its way forward, as well as regional and global affairs.
4. Work
is underway to hold bilateral meetings between the foreign ministers of the ROK
and Japan as well as between those of the ROK and China on the sidelines of the
trilateral one.
