Vice Minister Lee Attends Opening Ceremony of 2019 Korean Community Leaders Convention

1. Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea (ROK) Lee Tae-ho attended an opening ceremony and a welcoming dinner of the 2019 Korean Community Leaders Convention held at the Grand Walkerhill Hotel, Seoul, on Wednesday, October 2, 2019. During the opening ceremony, he welcomed and offered words of encouragement to about 400 Korean community leaders around the world who gathered for the event.

In his congratulatory remarks, Vice Minister Lee noted with appreciation that it was the harmony and the development of the ethnic Korean communities mainly led by the overseas Korean societies that the Korean communities could have successfully settled in the countries around the world while maintaining their identities as Koreans.

 

3. Furthermore, Vice Minister Lee commented that over the last century, the Korean history has been shaped together with the global Korean communities who have dedicated themselves to supporting their homeland in every corner of the world. In addition, Vice Minister Lee asked for the communities’ full support and encouragement for writing a new history of peace and prosperity for the next century, through achieving complete denuclearization, establishing permanent peace on the Korean Peninsula, and eventually, achieving the vision of unification.

 

4. Hosted by the Overseas Koreans Foundation and sponsored by the ROK Foreign Ministry, the Convention, as a representative event designed to invite the Korean community leaders around the globe, is contributing to building global ethnic Korean networks and strengthening their bond with their homeland.
