1. Minister of Foreign Affairs Kang, Kyung-wha had a telephone conversation with Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi on the afternoon of April 10 at the latter’s request and discussed ways for cooperation between the Republic of Korea and Pakistan regarding response to the COVID-19 situation.
2. Minister Kang explained that, as a result of the preemptive and active disease control measures by the ROK government, the COVID-19 situation has lately been improving in the ROK, but the ROK government has been continuing efforts to bring a complete end to the situation without letting down its vigilance.
3. Minister Qureshi highly commended the ROK government’s response to COVID-19, explained the situation of COVID-19 spreading in Pakistan, and voiced hope for cooperation and assistance in responding to the situation.
° Minister Kang, sharing the view on the need for cooperation and solidarity in responding to COVID-19, mentioned that the ROK will look into specific ways, considering the relevant discussions by the international community.
4. Minister Kang asked for the Pakistani government’s special attention to and cooperation on the safety and return of ROK nationals staying in Pakistan, and Minister Qureshi expressed the will to cooperate actively in that regard.
5. The
two Ministers, recognizing the importance of cooperation and experience-sharing
between the two countries in the process of responding to COVID-19, agreed that
the Ministries of Foreign Affairs will engage in close communication and exchanges.
