1. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will hold a “Latin Plaza” event at the Ministry on the morning of June 24, to which Ambassador of the United Mexican States to the Republic of Korea Bruno Figueroa Fischer has been invited to speak about the friendship built between the ROK and Mexico and to introduce to Koreans the modern Mexican culture.
° In particular, with this year marking the 70th anniversary of the Korean War, Ambassador Figueroa will share in person special stories between the ROK and Mexico, -- stories regarding the Mexican veterans who fought alongside the ROK in the Korean War as part of the United States military -- which used to remain unknown but he discovered by collecting relevant information and holding interviews over the years.
2. In
line with the guidelines for the “distancing in everyday life” campaign amid
the COVID-19 situation, the forthcoming “Latin Plaza” event will be attended
only by those who have been invited, including Ambassadors to the ROK from the
Group of Latin American and Caribbean countries (GRULAC) as well as those from other
countries that fought alongside the ROK in the Korean War, officials of the
Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, and the supporters of the Forum for
East Asia-Latin America Cooperation (FEALAC).
