1. The Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Da Nang, the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, will hold its opening ceremony on November 6.

° The Consulate General in Da Nang, which fully started work in July, has postponed its opening ceremony in consideration of the local COVID-19 situation.

2. Given the great increase in the number of Korean visitors to Da Nang over the years, the ROK government decided in March 2019 to establish a Consulate General in the city in order to protect the safety as well as the rights and interests of Koreans more effectively. The Consulate General in Da Nang was opened after consultations with the Vietnamese government and preparatory procedures over its location.

3. Even before the all-out start of its operations in July, the Consulate General worked hard to protect the rights and interests of the Koreans in central Viet Nam, who faced difficulties due to COVID-19, as well as to step up exchanges and cooperation between the two countries.

° The newly established Consulate General in Da Nang is expected to provide quality consular services for the Koreans in central Viet Nam in a timely manner and to greatly help further boost people-to-people and material exchanges between the ROK and the region.
