1. Deputy Minister for Political Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Kim Gunn will make an official visit to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar on November 24-27, during which he will hold the 2nd Republic of Korea-Myanmar policy consultation, pay courtesy calls on high-level officials of the Myanmarese government, meet with officials of the Yangon Region Government, and have a meeting with Korean companies in the country.
2. During Deputy Minister Kim’s visit to Myanmar, which will be made on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the establishment of the ROK-Myanmar diplomatic relations this year, the two countries are expected to have an in-depth discussion about cooperation on the COVID-19 prevention and control; key projects for substantive cooperation that were discussed at the two bilateral summits in 2019; difficulties faced by Korean companies in Myanmar; and other bilateral issues.
° The visit is also expected to serve as a good
opportunity to discuss specific ways to advance the ROK-Myanmar relations in
line with “the New Southern Policy Plus” announced by the ROK government during
the ASEAN-ROK Summit held on November 12.
