1. The Korea Disaster Relief Team (KDRT) to support the suppression of wildfires in Canada will depart for Canada via Korean military transport aircraft after its launching ceremony on the morning of July 2.

2. The KDRT led by Ambassador Kweon Ki-hwan and composed of 151 people, including those from the Korea Forest Service, the National Fire Agency, and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), as well as medical personnel, will provide support in suppressing wildfires in Quebec, Canada, from July 2 to August 3.

3. The Korean government expects this dispatch of the KDRT to support the swift suppression of the worst wildfires ever in Canada, which are expected to cause severe damage. Marking the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations this year, the Korean government also expects the KDRT to further reinforce bilateral relations with Canada, Korea's friend who fought alongside Korea during the Korean War.
