1. The Korean government has decided to provide US$2 million in humanitarian assistance for the people of Morocco affected by the 6.8-magnitute earthquake that struck the High Atlas Mountains, southwest of Marrakech, Morocco, on September 8.

2. The Korean government is in consultation with the Moroccan authorities through the Korean embassy in Morocco and the Moroccan Embassy in Korea to support Morocco’s response to the earthquake. The Korean government has already conveyed its willingness to offer humanitarian assistance, including the deployment of the Korea Disaster Relief Team (KDRT), mainly consisting of medical personnel, and provision of relief supplies. 

3. The Korean government wishes Morocco a swift recovery from the earthquake damage, and will cooperate closely with the Moroccan government and the international community to provide necessary support.
