1. The government of the Republic of Korea highly appreciates the diplomatic efforts made by the United States, Egypt and Qatar to resolve the situation in the Gaza Strip and fully supports these three countries’ call in their Joint Statement on August 8 that the relevant parties resume negotiations in Doha or Cairo on August 15 for a ceasefire and the release of hostages.

2. The government of the Republic of Korea expresses its deep concern about the recent rapid escalation of tensions in the Middle East and hopes that the situation in Gaza will be resolved and regional tensions will be eased through a swift conclusion of the deal for a ceasefire and the release of hostages.

3. As a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, the government of the Republic of Korea will continue to actively participate in the international community's efforts to resolve the situation.
