ROK-issued Driver’s Licenses to be Valid in the US State of Colorado

1.The Governments of the Republic of Korea and the US State of Colorado agreed to mutually acknowledge the validity of driver’s licenses issued by the other side. Consul-General Lee Jeong-gwan of the Republic of Korea in San Francisco and Executive Director Barbara Brohl of the Colorado Department of Revenue will sign the ROK-Colorado MOU on Mutual Recognition and Exchange of Driver’s Licenses on April 17.

2. The MOU with Colorado, which will enter into force immediately after being signed, is expected to greatly improve the convenience of ROK and US nationals staying in the ROK or Colorado.

* Approximately 23,121 Korean nationals reside in Colorado.

* The ROK has concluded such agreements with 13 US States – Maryland, Virginia, Washington, Massachusetts, Texas, Florida, Oregon, Michigan, Idaho, Alabama, West Virginia, Iowa, and Colorado,

3. The ROK government will continue making efforts for other US states and countries with many Korean residents to recognize the validity of ROK-issued driver’s licenses.
