1. The Foreign Ministry has published a variety of materials -- booklets, smartphone applications and videos -- demonstrating the objective ground for and the legitimacy of the territorial sovereignty of the Republic of Korea over Dokdo. These materials are being used at home and abroad to promote Dokdo in a way tailored to different situations.

° A promotional video on Dokdo is currently in production. It will show the beauty of Dokdo, the process of Japan’s forcible occupation of Dokdo and objective historical materials proving the ROK’s territorial sovereignty over Dokdo. Upon its completion in July, the video will be uploaded on the Foreign Ministry website and distributed to other relevant organizations at home and abroad to make known the truth about the territorial sovereignty over Dokdo.

° The Foreign Ministry’s Dokdo website currently serviced only in Korean will also be serviced in seven foreign languages, including Japanese as well as the six official languages of the UN -- English, Chinese, French, Arabic, Russian and Spanish -- from the second half of the year 2013. The website will be used to promote Dokdo in region- and language-specific ways.

° In addition, active promotional activities on Dokdo are under way through the use of a variety of materials, including booklets and academic ones, translated into foreign languages.

2. The Foreign Ministry installed “Dokdo Live TVs” at its missions, cultural centers, Korean-language schools and Korean community centers in the US, China and Russia in the first half of this year. The TVs are being used to promote Dokdo, the ROK government’s foreign policy and Hallyu (Korean Wave) as well as to provide Korean news in real-time to foreigners, Korean residents and visitors to the missions.

° The Live TVs are said to be drawing keen interest from the aforementioned countries and thereby helping enhance their understanding on Dokdo.

3. The Foreign Ministry will continue responding sternly and firmly to any unjust provocation of Japan over Dokdo. At the same time, it will continue its promotional activities tailored to different situations in diverse countries to raise a correct awareness on the ROK’s legitimate territorial sovereignty over Dokdo.
