1. Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se met with Victor Ivanovich Ishaev, Minister for Russian Far East, who was on a visit to the Republic of Korea to attend the 13th Meeting of the ROK-Russia Joint Commission on Economic, Scientific and Technological Cooperation in Seoul on July 9. The two Ministers shared the view that the two countries should develop new bilateral relations under the new ROK government and the Putin government. They agreed to hold both high- and working-level consultations to this end.

2. Minister Yun conveyed the keen interest of the new ROK government in strengthening its cooperation with Russia in a wide range of fields, including politics, foreign affairs, economy and society. He voiced his hope that the latest Joint Commission meeting would serve as an opportunity to review the progress in bilateral cooperation projects, pursue concrete and feasible projects, and seek out new cooperation projects.

3. The two Ministers exchanged views on trilateral cooperation projects among the ROK, North Korea and Russia as well as ROK-Russia cooperation toward the economic development in Russia’s Far East and Siberian regions.
