1. Xu Bu, the Chinese Foreign Ministry’s Deputy Representative for Korean Peninsula Affairs and deputy head delegate to the Six-Party Talks who visited the Republic of Korea to attend a strategic dialogue between think tanks of the two countries, met with the Foreign Ministry’s Director-General for North Korean Nuclear Affairs Lee Do-hoon on July 24. In the meeting, the two diplomats consulted with each other on North Korea issues, including its nuclear programs. Deputy Representative Xu also met with Special Representative for Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs Hwang Joon-kook.

2. At the ROK-China summit talks held on July 3 during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to the ROK, the two sides agreed to maintain strategic cooperation and communication with each other in order to see substantial progress toward denuclearization.
