1. The government of the Republic of Korea will send Representative Joo Ho-young of the ruling Saenuri Party as special envoy of President Park Geun-hye to the inauguration ceremony of President Tabare Vazquez of Uruguay set to take place on March 1.

◦ Representative Park Dae-chul of the Saenuri Party will accompany the special envoy to Uruguay.

2. Uruguay has been a long-standing friend of the ROK since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1964. The two countries have also shared with each other such universal values as democracy, market economy and human rights, and expanded cooperation in various sectors. In particular, they have developed their close friendship and cooperation through active high-level exchanges, as demonstrated by National Assembly Speaker Chung Ui-hwa’s visit to Uruguay in 2014 to mark the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations.

3. The dispatch of the special envoy is expected to further deepen and expand the friendly and cooperative ties between the two countries.
