1. Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se, together with the Diplomatic Corps in the Republic of Korea, will attend the “Peace Concert with the Diplomatic Choir,” which will be staged at Imjingak Peace Park in Paju, Gyeonggi-do (province), north of Seoul, on June 5 in aspiration for peace on the Korean Peninsula and in the rest of the world.

2. The forthcoming concert is expected to bring together some 400 people. Among them will be resident or acting Ambassadors from 77 countries, including Ambassador from the Holy See and acting Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in the ROK Osvaldo Padilla, as well as their families, some 130 in total; delegates from six international organizations, such as the Secretary-General of the ROK-China-Japan Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat, and their spouses, 10 in total; the Foreign Minister and other high-level officials of the Foreign Ministry; lawmakers representing Paju; and Korean honorary consuls for foreign countries and their spouses.

3. The upcoming concert will mark the first performance on the theme of “peace” to be staged by the Diplomatic Choir since its founding in 2009. The year 2015 carries great significance for the ROK in that it marks the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the Korean Peninsula from Japan’s colonial rule and its division; and for the world in that it marks the 70th anniversary of the end of World War II and the achievement of peace. In that light, the “Peace Concert” will be meaningful, as officials of the Foreign Ministry and foreign diplomats to the ROK will come together at Imjingak Peace Park, a place symbolizing the ROK’s aspirations for peace, and express wish for peace on the Korean Peninsula and in the rest of the world.
