ROK and Japan to Hold the 7th Counter-Terrorism Consultation

1. The seventh Republic of Korea-Japan Counter-Terrorism Consultation will take place at the former’s Foreign Ministry, Seoul, on July 15. The ROK and Japanese head delegates to the meeting will be Ambassador for International Security Affairs Shin Maeng-ho of the Foreign Ministry and Ambassador in charge of International Cooperation for Countering Terrorism and International Organized Crime Keiji Ide of the Foreign Ministry.

2. In the Consultation, the two sides will share with each other their assessments of the global and regional terrorism situations as well as their respective counter-terrorism policies; and seek ways to work together bilaterally and multilaterally in fighting terrorism that has lately emerged as a grave threat to the international community.

3. The ROK holds bilateral and multilateral counter-terrorism consultations with the aim to seek closer cooperation with major countries in fighting international terrorism and protecting overseas Koreans. At the forthcoming Consultation, the ROK and Japan are expected to lay the groundwork for closer substantive cooperation in the field, including by sharing relevant information and building networks between their related organizations.
