1. On July 20, the Foreign Ministry concluded with the Korea World Missions Association and the Korea Crisis Management Service an “agreement for cooperation for a better protection of the missionaries of the Republic of Korea dispatched overseas.”

2. The conclusion of the agreement carries significance in that a system for trilateral private-public cooperation has been set up to better ensure the safety of some 37,000 Korean missionaries working abroad.

3. With an annual 19 million ROK nationals traveling abroad amid the growing terrorism risks across the world, the Foreign Ministry will continuously seek institutional improvements and closer cooperation with the private sector in order to better ensure the safety of and better protect the overseas Koreans.
