1. The Foreign Ministry’s fourth round of “people as public diplomats” projects, -- public diplomacy projects planned and undertaken by nationals of the Republic of Korea as civilian diplomats to promote the ROK -- is well under way. After four months of preparations, Korean fairytale books were delivered to Tanzania, marking the completion of one of the twelve projects for 2016 that was designed and conducted by the “Kushimama” team.

2. The “Kushimama” team held a donation ceremony at a university in Tanzania on August 11, where Korean fairytale books translated into the local language, world maps and calendars with fairytale illustrations were introduced to local officials and students. After the ceremony, the team visited 17 elementary schools and libraries to donate fairytale books and to meet teachers and students for conversations on the books.

2. Any ROK nationals interested in public diplomacy are eligible to apply for participation in “people as public diplomats” projects. For the projects in 2016, twelve teams comprised of 73 people have been selected. The Foreign Ministry will receive applications and select the projects and their implementers for 2017 in December.
