1. The Foreign Ministry, together with the National Police Agency, will host on September 28 the fifth seminar on the Republic of Korea-Latin America cooperation on public security.

° The seminar will bring together top-level officials from public security-related agencies of eight Latin American countries as well as some 100 people from home, including Deputy Minister for Political Affairs Kim Hyoung-zhin of the Foreign Ministry and a ranking official of the National Police Agency.

2. At the seminar, the delegations from the participating countries will share with one another their countries’ public security policies and discuss in depth various, specific ways for the ROK and Latin America to work together on public security and to beef up police capabilities for crime prevention.

3. In a bid to work with Latin America toward co-prosperity and to ensure the safety of the Korean residents and enterprises in the region, the ROK government has been taking an active part in Latin American countries’ efforts to improve their public security situations, one of their key challenges.

4. On September 30, the seminar participants will meet with chief Lee Chul-sung of the National Police Agency to discuss ways to increase exchanges and cooperation between police organizations of the ROK and Latin American countries.
