1. The Korea National Diplomatic Academy (KNDA) will hold the opening ceremony of a center for consular education and training on February 1 in the presence of Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se and Chairman Shim Jae-kwon of the National Assembly’s Foreign Affairs and Unification Committee. The center will house facilities for simulation-based education on consular services and conduct relevant programs, the first of their kind to be introduced by the Foreign Ministry for the education of its personnel in the field. Among the topics to be covered in the simulation-based education programs are providing consular consultation services, holding meetings with those detained overseas, visiting police stations, managing emergencies, issuing visas and providing notarial service.

2. Going forward, the KNDA plans to provide more substantive and systematic consular education to diplomats-to-be who will be assigned to overseas diplomatic missions; cultivate consular personnel that is ready to serve and trusted by people; and improve the quality of the consular services offered by the Foreign Ministry.
