1. The Foreign Ministry will hold the “2017 Korea-Japan-China Trilateral Cooperation Workshop for Public Officials” in Gwangju, Gyeonggi-do (province), on June 8 and 9.

2. The forthcoming event, the fifth of its kind since the first held in 2012, will bring together some 100 people, including international relations officials at the central and provincial governments of the Republic of Korea; as well as Japanese and Chinese public officials working or studying in the ROK.

3. The workshop will feature congratulatory remarks by the Deputy Director-General for Northeast Asian Affairs of the ROK Foreign Ministry as well as the Secretary-General of the ROK-Japan-China Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS); a briefing on the progress in the trilateral cooperation; presentations on cases of cooperation among government agencies of the three countries; and a lecture on the cultures of the three countries.

4. The event, which will come amid keen interest of public officials of the ROK, Japan and China just as its round in 2016 did, will consist of presentations on cases of cooperation among provincial governments of the three countries, and serve as an opportunity for discussions on a vision of a desirable future for the trilateral cooperation.

5. The ROK Foreign Ministry expects the forthcoming event to provide an opportunity for the public officials of the three countries to better understand each other and build tight networks among them.
