1. The Republic of Korea and Austria signed in Vienna, Austria, on December 1, the “revised joint declaration on the working holiday program,” which calls for extending the duration of stay for the program from six months to one year.

※ The annual quota of participants in the program stands at 300.
2. The extension of the period of stay for the working holiday program is expected to help boost youth exchanges between the ROK and Austria, thereby further enhancing the friendly and cooperative ties between the two countries.

3. The ROK has so far concluded agreements or memoranda of understanding on working holiday with 21 countries, with an annual 40,000-odd people taking part in the working holiday programs with those countries. Going forward, the Foreign Ministry will seek to further bolster the institutional foundation to offer young Koreans more opportunities to build presence overseas.
