1. Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Cho Hyun held a Republic of Korea-Japan vice ministerial meeting with Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan Takeo Akiba in Tokyo on October 25.

2. In the meeting, the two Vice Ministers exchanged views on the full range of issues pertaining to the ROK-Japan relations, including those concerning the Reconciliation and Healing Foundation. They also discussed the denuclearization of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the progress toward the establishment of permanent peace on the Korean Peninsula.

° In the meeting, Vice Minister Cho extended to his Japanese counterpart an invitation to the ROK. The two Vice Ministers agreed to work together to step up substantive cooperation, including by holding on October 29 a joint meeting of the ROK and Japanese taskforces formed to increase cultural and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
