1. Minister of Foreign Affairs Chung Eui-yong spoke over the phone on February 15 with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

o Foreign Minister Chung congratulated the UAE on putting its space probe “Amal” into orbit around Mars, and commended the enterprising leadership of the UAE leaders for such a great success.

2. The two Foreign Ministers shared the view that the Korea-UAE Special Strategic Partnership has further strengthened despite the COVID-19 pandemic thanks to robust high-level exchanges, including mutual visits by the Foreign Ministers of the two countries last year and National Assembly Speaker Park Byeong-seug’s visit to the UAE last week. The two sides agreed to further carry out exchanges and cooperation at various levels.

3. The two Foreign Ministers noted that close cooperation has been going on between the two countries in a wide range of areas such as public health and energy, and agreed to continue efforts to broaden areas of cooperation including Expo projects.
