2. Deputy Minister Kweon explained that the Korean government has contributed a total 40 million U.S. dollars to help respond to the ever-worsening humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip since the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas armed conflict in October last year. He added that in order to resolve the humanitarian crisis in the region, it is important for the parties concerned to immediately reach a ceasefire, release the hostages, and guarantee an unhindered humanitarian access in compliance with UN Security Council Resolution 2735.

They agreed to deepen cooperation not only on humanitarian assistance but for an early recovery in the long term.

※ According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), 2.3 billion U.S. dollars has been raised, 62 percent of 3.42 billion U.S. dollars needed for humanitarian aid to 2.1 million residents in Gaza.
