- A Legal Foundation Established for Air Transportation Cooperation Between the Two Countries -

1. The “Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Korea and the Government of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana for Air Services Between and Beyond their Respective Territories” (hereinafter the "Agreement") officially entered into force on February 13, 2025. This follows the completion of domestic procedures by both countries in January after the Agreement was signed on December 5, 2024.

2. The Agreement provides a legal framework for opening air routes and facilitating air transportation by regulating key matters such as air traffic rights, airline designations and authorizations, and the suspension and restriction of rights, as well as safety and security protocols.

3. The Agreement is expected to help foster increased exchanges of people and goods between the two countries, while serving as a foundation for Korean airlines to expand their business in South American aviation markets.

4. The Korean government will continue to work on seeking air transportation cooperation with a larger number of countries with the aim to enhance convenience for its citizens and create new opportunities for Korean businesses to build presence in aviation markets overseas.
