Good afternoon. Let me start today’s briefing.

Minister of Foreign Affairs Park Jin will deliver opening remarks at the 3rd World Emerging Security Forum on December 5.

At the upcoming Forum, to be co-hosted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Center for a New American Security (CNAS) and the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), participants will discuss ways to enhance global cooperation to respond to security threats posed by new technologies, including cyber and artificial intelligence.

The Forum will be attended by around 500 people, including CEO of CNAS Richard Fontaine, eighth Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon, and President of Eurasia Group Ian Bremmer.

In his opening remarks, Foreign Minister Park will raise the need to address complex emerging security threats amid increasing cyber threats such as the spread of disinformation and North Korea's cryptocurrency theft, as well as the growing importance of responsible use of AI.

Additionally, Foreign Minister Park will stress global governance and collaboration among relevant stakeholders to address emerging security threats.

This Forum is expected to serve as an opportunity for Korea, as a responsible member of the international community and a technological powerhouse, to contribute to international efforts to respond to emerging security threats.
