Press Briefing
Spokesperson and Deputy Minister for Public Affairs Choi Youngsam
July 6, 2021 14:30 KST
Good afternoon. Let me start today’s briefing.
A related agency may also have already made an announcement. Under the vaccine swap agreement that the Korean government concluded with Israel today, July 6, 700,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine will arrive at Incheon International Airport from Israel around 7 a.m. tomorrow.
Regarding this, since April, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has actively discussed possible deals to swap vaccines with countries with high vaccination rates.
The swap agreement was signed based on shared views of all countries including Korea and Israel that even a single drop of vaccine should not be wasted.
The Korean government does hope that the Korea-Israel agreement will contribute to reaching herd immunity in Korea even a little earlier.
