Good afternoon. Let me start today’s briefing.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Cho Tae-yul will attend the 2024 World Emerging Security Forum which will take place in Seoul on December 5.
This year’s World Emerging Security Forum, launched in 2021 to explore ways for international response to emerging security threats, marks its fourth iteration.
At the upcoming Forum, which will be held under the theme of “Global Cooperation in the Evolving Security Environment - Cyber, AI, and New Technologies,” experts from governments, international organizations, businesses and academia will have discussions on cyber, artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.
Foreign Minister Cho will deliver opening remarks, which will highlight today’s evolving security threat landscape, calling for the need to promote cooperation among various stakeholders in response to those threats.
Moving on, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Kang Insun, together with Minister of Energy and Infrastructure of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Suhail Al-Mazrouei, will hold the sixth ROK-UAE High-Level Consultation on Nuclear Cooperation (HLC) in Abu Dhabi on Thursday, December 5.
During the Consultation, the two countries will discuss ways to work together on the construction of nuclear power plants and the joint development of overseas nuclear power plant projects; on research and development (R&D) of nuclear science and technology; and on nuclear security, safety and regulations.
